about
say it.
no name attached.
Unbirden is a place to share the things you can’t say out loud. You post anonymously. You choose when it disappears.
Unbirden Yourself →why this exists
Judgement is all around the internet. Your name is attached, your history is public, and anything you say becomes a permanent line in a profile someone can scroll back through years later.
So the heaviest things go unsaid. The resignation you never explained. The love you never admitted to. The mistake you’ve never told anyone about. The thing you saw that you still can’t make sense of.
Unbirden takes the two things that keep people quiet — identity and fear of judgement — and removes them both.
You write it. Strangers who’ve been there read it. And then, when you decide, it’s gone.
how it works
Write it
Type it out and pick a tag. Then choose how long it stays up: one month, three months, six months, a year, or forever.
Get replies
People can tap relate or leave a comment. Everyone shows up under a random name — including you.
Let it go
When the time is up, your post and all its comments are deleted. Want it gone sooner? Tap Delete Now.
what we left out
- No DMs.There is no private messaging on Unbirden at all. Nobody can pull you into a private chat.
- No profiles. You get a new random name in every thread. Nobody can click your name and read your other posts.
- No posting forever by accident. You set the expiry date yourself. It’s your choice, not something that just happens.
- No follower counts.Posts are grouped by tag — like #FirstLove or #OfficePolitics — so you can read the kind of thing you came for.
- You find your people by feeling.Stories are grouped by tag — #FirstLove, #OfficePolitics, #Confession and more — so you can read the exact kind of thing you came here for. There’s nothing to grow and no one to impress.
how we keep it safe
- Phone numbers, addresses and real names are removed automatically — including your own.
- Links and social handles are blocked, so nobody can move the chat somewhere else.
- You can report any comment in one tap. Enough reports and it’s hidden straight away.
- Accounts that keep causing harm stop showing up for other people.
- If a post sounds like someone is in danger, we show support resources on it.
One rule:say anything you need to say. Just don’t use this place to reach into someone else’s life.
you’ll recognise yourself here
- the employee who needs to vent about a workplace without risking the job
- the person who never got to say a proper goodbye
- the one carrying a mistake that’s become too heavy to keep
- the unspoken, one-sided love that has nowhere else to go
- the jealousy you’d never admit out loud
- the witness to something strange who needs to know they aren’t the only one
- the moment you can’t stop replaying
- the person stuck in a decision, looking for one honest voice
quick questions
Will anyone know it’s me?
Your posts aren’t linked to a public profile, and you get a different random name in every thread. There’s nothing for anyone to click on and follow back to you.
Can I change my mind after posting?
Yes. Tap Delete Nowand it goes, even if the timer hasn’t run out.
What happens when the timer ends?
Your post and every comment on it are deleted.
Do I have to post at all?
No. Plenty of people only read. That’s fine too.
watch it go
As a story nears the end of its life, the words themselves begin to fade — bright and solid on day one, a barely-visible ghost in the final hours. Letting go is the feature, so we made it something you can see.
I never told her it was me who left the note. Eleven years, and it's still the bravest thing I've done.
you don’t have to keep carrying it
No name. No profile. Nothing left behind once your timer ends.
